2025 International MSA Congress Abstracts
The 2025 International MSA Congress invites you to submit an abstract for presentation in Boston, Massachusetts, USA on May 9-11, 2025. Abstracts that are accepted will be asked to be made into poster or platform presentations to be delivered at the congress and will be published in congress programming and available on the 2025 IMSAC virtual platform.
Key Dates and Deadlines
All submitters will be required to agree to the dates posted within the submission form. Deadline extensions and/or changes after the posted deadlines will NOT be granted.

Abstract submissions open September 20, 2024.
Abstract submission deadline is November 10, 2024.
Abstract notifications will be sent out February 2025.
Late breaking abstract submissions open January/February 2025.
Guidelines for Abstract Submission

- Each participant may present a maximum of 3 posters and/or 1 Oral presentation.
- The presenting author is required to ensure that all co-authors are aware of the content of the abstract before submission.
- The presenting author must be listed as the first author.
- Abstracts previously presented will be accepted.
- All abstracts should be submitted and presented in clear English with accurate grammar and spelling of a quality suitable for publication. If you need help, please arrange for the review of your abstract by a colleague who is a native English speaker, by a university specific publications office (or other similar facility) or by a copy editor, prior to submission.
- All abstracts accepted for presentation will be published on the Congress website.
- You may submit more than 1 abstract. However, presenters that are accepted for oral presentation will be permitted to give only 1 oral presentation.  Additional accepted abstracts will therefore be poster only.
- The submitting author will receive all correspondence about the abstract so we advise that the submitting author details that are entered are the same details as those of the presenting author.
- Abstracts may not be edited/updated after final submission.
- Your abstract is not successfully submitted until you receive a confirmation e-mail after clicking the final submit button. If you do not receive a confirmation e-mail, please contact Jessie Iregui at jessie.iregui@missionmsa.org.
Before you begin, please prepare the following information:
Abstract Topic – abstracts must be allocated to a specific Track.
Presenting author’s contact details (should be the same details as the submitting author so that the presenting author receives the correspondence about the abstract):

- Abstract title
- Topic keywords
- Target audience – Who is your content intended for? Who will gain the most from attending?
- Learning objectives – Please describe three learning objectives for your presentation. Each learning objective should be no more than 25 words.
- Abstract text – limited to 3000 characters
- PDF of full abstract
- Co-authors – limited to 15. Please note co-authors are indicated as “co-speakers” in the submission software.
- Submission type – oral presentation, poster presentation, or both
- Disclosure statement, if applicable

You must fully submit the abstract before the deadline in order for it to be successfully submitted and considered. Drafts not finally submitted by the deadline will not be accepted.
Text limit of 3,000 characters (including spaces) for the body of the abstract. The size limit includes characters and spaces in the Abstract Title and Abstract Body. Please note that spaces are included in the overall character count. The size limit does not include author information or reference sections.
All abstract submissions must be written and presented in English.
Abstracts should be arranged as follows:
- ObjectiveÂ

- Conclusions
When compiling your submission please note the following:
- Do not include any identifying information directly on the abstract.Â
- Do not include branded product names in the abstract. If the abstract is found to contain marketing, rather than scientific content, the abstract will be rejected.Â
- Only nonproprietary (generic) drug names should be used and should be written without capitals.Â
- Select one (1) Track under which the abstract should be reviewed. If the abstract covers more than one topic, please choose the most appropriate category.Â
- If it is determined that the abstract should be re-categorized, the IMSAC will ensure that the new category placement is in the best interest of the work and easily searchable by International MSA Congress attendees as well as online researchers.
- The use of standard abbreviations is desirable. A special or unusual abbreviation should be placed in parentheses after the first appearance of the full word for which it stands.Â
During abstract submission you will be asked to agree to the following:
1. I confirm that I previewed this abstract and that all information is correct. I accept that the content of this abstract cannot be modified or corrected after final submission and I am aware that it will be published as submitted.
2. Submission of this abstract constitutes the consent of all authors to publication (e.g. Conference website, programs, other marketing, etc.) 
3. The Abstract Submitter warrants and represents that no part of the information and content provided by him/her (Hereafter: the “Content“) to the International MSA Congress and its affiliates (together: the “Organizers“), nor the publication of any such Content by each of the Organizers, on the internet or otherwise infringes any third party rights, including but not limited to privacy rights and/or intellectual property rights.
4. The Abstract Submitter grants each of the Organizers the license and right to use, reproduce, publish, translate, distribute, and display the Content or any part thereof, in any manner and on any platform or media whatsoever, in each Organizer’s absolute discretion, on a royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable nonexclusive basis.
5. I herewith confirm that the contact details saved in this system are those of the presenting author, who will be notified about the status of the abstract. The presenting author is responsible for informing the other authors about the status of the abstract. The submitting author may request to be copied on the abstract correspondence.
6. I understand that the presenting author must be a registered participant.
7. The Organizers reserve the right to remove from publication and/or presentation an abstract which does not comply with the above.
8. I understand that I must select a specific Track for my abstract allocation. Although the Committee will work hard to honor this selection, this cannot be guaranteed. The Committee reserves the right to change the Track under which the abstract was originally submitted.
9. I confirm to have received the consent of all authors for the processing of their contact details by the International MSA Congress and the Organizers.
You will be asked to declare any relevant disclosures, and you will be requested to confirm that you will declare any conflict of interests in your presentation at the Conference.
- Abstract submission deadline: November 10th, 2024
- An individual may be the first author on a maximum of three (3) abstracts.
- An individual may be a contributing author on an unlimited number of abstracts.
- MDS Members and non-members are welcome to submit abstracts.
- There is no fee to submit an abstract.
- Note: If your abstract includes a rating scale or other resources, please make sure permission has been granted and all applicable fees have been paid.
- Abstract presenters are encouraged to attend the International MSA Congress to present their abstract in person. In-person abstract presenters are required to register for the International Congress and pay applicable registration fees.
- Abstracts must be submitted in their final form on November 10th, 2024.
- Requests to edit abstract data and/or outcomes after the submission deadline will not be granted. All other abstract edits are not guaranteed.
Abstracts that have been presented at other meetings may be submitted. Submitted abstracts that have been presented at other meetings must be indicated on the abstract submission form and include the previous meeting name and presentation date cited accordingly in the abstract body, after the Conclusion.
The International MSA Congress Program Planning Committee will review all abstracts. The Committee shall be directed to reject abstracts for the following reasons:
- Plagiarism detected
- Marketing detected
- Does not meet basic requirements
All abstract notification e-mail and correspondence will be communicated to the designated contact person of the abstract. Abstract acceptance notifications will be sent to the designated contact person via e-mail in February 2025. High-ranking abstracts may be selected for additional oral platform presentation.

All submitted abstracts will receive a confirmation e-mail to the designated contact person.

If the confirmation e-mail has not been received within 24-hours of submitting the abstract, please log in to the abstract submission site to verify the status of the submission.

Please check your spam and junk e-mail folders before contacting Mission MSA regarding the status of your abstract. Abstract status can also be checked directly on the submission site in February 2025.
Accepted abstract presenters should plan to attend the Congress to present the poster during the scheduled poster session(s). Attendance is not mandatory and does not affect abstract acceptance or publication.

Please note, if your abstract is accepted for oral presentation, the presenting author will be permitted a maximum of 1 oral presentation in the CME accredited program.
Abstract Submission Tracks
- Disease Pathogenesis and Mechanisms: Research focusing on the underlying causes, molecular pathways, and mechanisms involved in the development and progression of MSA.
- Clinical Features and Phenotypes: Research describing the diverse clinical presentations, phenotypic variations, and symptomatology of MSA, including motor and non-motor symptoms.
- Diagnostic Biomarkers and Imaging: Research presenting novel biomarkers, imaging techniques, and diagnostic modalities for the early and accurate diagnosis of MSA.
- Therapeutic Approaches and Clinical Trials: Research discussing pharmacological interventions, therapeutic strategies, and ongoing clinical trials aimed at slowing disease progression or alleviating symptoms in MSA patients.
- Disease Management and Care: Research focusing on multidisciplinary approaches to management, supportive care, and improving the quality of life for individuals living with MSA and their caregivers.
- Genetics and Risk Factors: Research exploring genetic factors, environmental influences, and risk factors associated with MSA susceptibility and disease progression.
- Animal Models and Preclinical Research: Research presenting findings from animal models, preclinical studies, and experimental therapeutics aimed at understanding disease mechanisms and testing potential treatments for MSA.
- Epidemiology and Natural History: Research examining the epidemiology, incidence, prevalence, and natural history of MSA across different populations and regions.
- Clinical Assessment Tools for MSA: Research on the validation and reliability of clinical assessment tools in MSA or comparing clinical assessment tools for diagnosing MSA vs. other neurodegenerative disorders.
- Quality of Life and Palliative Care: Research discussing the impact of MSA on quality of life, as well as palliative care approaches and end-of-life considerations.
